Catherine Tresa cast as a pretty villager.
Casting is always a tricky affair particularly when it comes to choosing the heroine as the heroine is not just expected to look pretty for also be convincing for the part. This becomes even more difficult when the film setting is rural. Most directors are happy to sign a girl who can look glamorous but to look glamorous and at the same time look like a villager is a tall order. However Catherine Tresa who made a mark in Pa Ranjith’s film Madras will soon be playing the lead in Udhayanidhi’s new film. In this new film, which is a village-based comedy, the heroine has to look the part of a college going daughter of the village headman. However director Thalapathi is convinced that Catherine has the required look and talent and that she would be the best choice. Funnily enough though selected because she looks convincing as a rural belle, she learnt to play the piano, and got trained in singing, dancing, ice skating and debating, stating that she believes that she is “good at anything I put my mind to”. The paperwork as they say is not yet done but it is more or less certain that she will sign on the dotted line. It is now left to him to Thalapathi extract the best from her.
