Did One Kiss Make A Star Out Of Remya Nambeesan?
The Kollywood film ‘Pizza’ did not hit the screen with a bang rather it got a quiet reception but soon gained popularity through word of mouth when youngsters started crowding theatres showing it. The film went from strength to strength along with its heroine Remya Nambeesan. While receiving critical acclaim for her performances in Malayalam films like ‘Traffic’ and ‘Chaappa Kurish’ Remya has occasionally worked as a television presenter and singer as well.
Her first release of that year was ‘Traffic’ where she played Shwetha, a “stylish seductress”. She next appeared in the thriller film ‘Chaappa Kurish’ as Sonia, a secretary who has an affair with her colleague. She shot a long kissing scene with her co-star Fahad Fazil in the film. It was supposedly the first ever, passionate kiss in Malayalam cinema and it was promptly termed as controversial. Remya feels that it is silly to think so and says “An actress should always be ready to take risks with the scenes and dialogues when the character demands it. Even when I was aware that the two-minute intense scene could create waves, I was sure that it suited the plot.” She will soon be seen in the Malayalam film ‘Up and down’ and then in the Kollywood film ‘Ya Ya’. Looks like we can already hear the younger fans say ‘Yeah Yeah!
