In ‘Kumki’ Did Vikram Prabhu Match His Father Prabhu?
Prabhu’s son Vikram had a great start in Kollywood with ‘Kumki’, a story about the relationship shared by an elephant and its mahout. The film set in parts of the Western Ghats not usually seen in cinema was eye catching. Vikram Prabhu as he is formally known and also to differentiate him from the other Vikram, has what seems to be a broken nose but that adds to his charm. For once chocolate looks did not matter. How it will stay in the future is unknown, as he might well turn up with a perfect nose thanks to plastic surgery in his next film. Vikram Prabhu is on a roll with many new films under his belt. UTV Motion Pictures’ next Tamil film is ‘Sigaram Thodu’ starring actor Vikram Prabhu in the lead.
The film has been written and will be directed by Gaurav of ‘Thoonga Nagaram’ fame. Pre-production work for ‘Sigaram Thodu’ has commenced and the film’s shooting is expected to begin from mid April. UTV’s honchos said “As a studio, it has been our constant endeavor to bring the right mix of content for our consumers like we have done with our Hindi slate. The South is a key market for us and we will be announcing an equally eclectic slate this side as well,” said G Dhananjayan, head of South Business, Dhananjayan Govind of Disney also expressed his happiness over teaming up with Vikram Prabhu, who has become popular overnight with his Kumki. They have Vikram Prabhu back to back in ‘Ivan Veramadhiri’ (Saravanan’s project) and ‘Sigaram Thodu’.” Settai, a remake of Hindi film ‘Delhi Belly’ directed by R Kannan, will be UTV’s first Kollywood release this February, while ‘Sigaram Thodu’ will be released in December.
