Jaundice claims a talented writer in Na Muthukumar.
God takes away those he loves the most is a sentence with which we console ourselves when someone good and talented dies early. Na Muthukumar came to Tamil cinema dreaming of becoming a director, but instead started working as an assistant to Balu Mahendra, where he discovered his passion for literature. Later, he was introduced as a lyricist in Seeman’s film Veera Nadai. He wrote the dialogues for the Ajith-starrer Kireedom, directed by Vijay. He also won the National Award for the ‘Aananda Yaazhai’ from Thanga Meengal and ‘Azhage Azhagu’ from Saivam. He had earlier worked in films like 7G Rainbow Colony, Thupakki, Theri and so many more on. In his career spanning 20 years, Muthukumar had worked with almost all music directors in the industry and has given Tamil cinema some of its greatest music. In all he has written over a 1000 songs so it was a huge shock to know that he passed away in the early hours of the day due to complications arising out of Jaundice.
