Vijay’s work for development in tribal village.

The newly appointed assistant collector of Palakkad district in Kerala state, Umesh Kesavan recently put up a post on his social networking page. It soon went viral. In the post he stated that Attapadi, a tribal village in the district didn’t have public toilets despite the Swach Bharat mission. His post read, “Got a chance to visit a remote hamlet in the Attapadi tribal block of Palakkad district yesterday. Roads were non-existent, street lights had gone into hiding and toilets were a no-no. When asked “where is your toilet?”, a man pointed out the entire hill around him and said “it’s all our toilet”. There was general apathy even towards the government. Some children were not interested in even going to school as they found it pointless. They had no clue about the society around them. When asked what do they do to pass time during the non-agricultural seasons/weekends one child said “We watch Vijay movies and songs in Tamil channels all the time”. Apparently Crores of social welfare funds had not reached that remote village. Only Vijay had reached.” The post garnered a lot of attention and the assistant collector noted that the district administration should tap into the actor’s popularity to take forward welfare and development measures. Now we hear that Vijay has decided to meet the villagers of Attapadi and talk to them about the importance of education. The actor, we hear, also met the assistant collector and discussed the same with him. An official statement is awaited.
