Chaya Singh belongs to a Rajput family but born in Bangalore where her parents had migrated to from U.P. before her birth. She has a reputation of being very selective in her roles. Chaya Singh shot to fame in her debut film ‘Thiruda Thirudi’ with Dhanush, thanks to the ‘Manmadha Rasa’ kutthu song. With this film she got a major break and once the song Manmadha Rasa scorched the airwaves, every producer wanted her to do item numbers in their movies, which Chaya disliked. She gave up many a lucrative film offer because she felt she deserved better than to do a kutthu number. Chaya has now done over 25 films in all the south languages. Though she made a name in Tamil cinema she slowly shifted to Malayalam cinema as out there she was getting the kind of role she was looking for. She suddenly upped and tied the knot with actor Krishna at a traditional ceremony. The duo fell in love while they were acting together in Shankar’s film ‘Ananathapuratthu Veedu’. Though she is a very traditional girl during the shoot the two of them would often spend a great deal of time chatting with each other. Krishna must have made a good impression on her because he was the villain in the film.
