Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid (2021)

The Wimpy Kid universe expands with a new book told from the perspective of Rowley Jefferson in Dairy of an Awesome Friendly Kid.

The Diary of a Wimpy Kid universe is expanding. The latest book from internationally bestselling author Jeff Kinney will be written from the perspective of Rowley Jefferson, the best friend of Wimpy Kid protagonist Greg Heffley. Does that mean a new movie is on the way? It’s very possible.

Amulet Books, an imprint of Abrams Children’s Books, announced today the forthcoming publication of Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid: Rowley Jefferson’s Journal, a new novel by global bestselling author Jeff Kinney. Releasing on April 9, 2019, in the United States and Canada in hardcover, ebook, and audio editions with a 3 million-copy announced first printing, and in over eighteen countries throughout the year, Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid is Jeff Kinney’s first book outside of his Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.

Half Baked 2

It was revealed late last year that comedian Justin Hires was penning the screenplay for the second installment.

Half Baked 2 is getting closer to becoming a reality. The sequel was among a dozen projects selected earlier this week to receive part of a $40 million in tax credit allocated by the California Film Commission. According to the state tax credit, production needs to begin within the next 180 days, and for Half Baked 2, that will take place in Los Angeles. It was revealed at the end of last year that MacGyver reboot star Justin Hires was putting together the screenplay for the sequel.

As for who will be involved in Half Baked 2, that is unclear at the moment. Dave Chappelle will more than likely have nothing to do with the project after revealing his disappointment in the first installment. In 2014, Chappelle said, “Half Baked didn’t come out the way I wanted it to come out. I was real upset about that, cause it was a real cool script.” He seems to think that the movie was geared towards children, which was not the case when the he read the original script
