Army of the Dead is an upcoming American zombie heist film directed by Zack Snyder and co-written by Snyder, Shay Hatten and Joby Harold. It stars Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Garret Dillahunt, Raul Castillo, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tig Notaro and Matthias Schweighöfer.

Lucifer

Lucifer is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language action film directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and written by Murali Gopy. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor through the production house Aashirvad Cinemas, the film marks Prithviraj’s directorial debut and features Mohanlal in the lead role, alongside a supporting cast including Vivek OberoiManju WarrierPrithviraj SukumaranTovino ThomasIndrajith SukumaranSaniya IyappanSaikumarKalabhavan Shajohn, and Nyla UshaDeepak Dev composed the film’s music, and the cinematography was handled by Sujith Vaassudev.

Development of the film began in 2016 when Murali pitched a story to Prithviraj at the sets of Tiyaan in Ramoji Film City, it was when he decided to make Lucifer his directorial debut. Title of the film was taken from an unrealised project of director Rajesh Pillai which was also written by Murali with another story. Pre-production of Lucifer began in 2017 and Murali completed the final draft of the screenplay in February 2018. Principal photography began in mid-July that year and lasted till January 2019, with filming carried out in ThiruvananthapuramIdukkiErnakulam, and Kollam districts, and MumbaiBangaloreLakshadweep, and Russia.

Lucifer was released in theatres worldwide on 28 March 2019. It was also dubbed and released in Tamil and Telugu. The film performed well at the box office. It crossed the ?50 crore mark in four days, ?100 crore mark in eight days,[2][3] and the ?150 crore mark in 21 days[4] becoming the fastest Malayalam film to reach all three milestones. It is also the first Malayalam film to gross over ?50 crore in overseas box office. Lucifer is currently the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever, grossing ?200 crore globally. Lucifer is the first installment in a trilogy and will be followed by L2: Empuraan and an untitled sequel, which are in development.

Soothrakkaran

Soothrakkaran (transl.?The tricky man) is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language thriller film written and directed by Anil Rraj and produced by Tomy Varghese and Wichu Balamurali.[1][2] Co-written by Wichu Balamurali, the film stars Gokul Suresh, Niranj Maniyanpilla Raju and Varsha Bollamma in lead roles.[3][4] The music of the film is composed by Wichu Balamurali and the cinematography is handled by Anil Nair.[5] Original background score by ‘Saji Ram’. Jacob GregoryLalu Alex and Kailash also appear in important roles.[6] The story revolves around a series of murders that happen in a town, and how the family members of Sreedharan (Lalu Alex), Prabhakaran (Vijayaraghavan) and Balachandran (Santhosh Keezhattoor) are entangled in the same.[7] The film was released in India on 8 March 2019.

Kumbalangi Nights

Kumbalangi Nights is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language drama film directed by Madhu C. Narayanan. The directorial debut was written by Syam Pushkaran and jointly produced by Fahadh Faasil and Nazriya Nazim under their production house Fahadh Faasil and Friends, in association with Dileesh Pothan and Syam Pushkaran under Working Class Hero.[3] The film stars Shane NigamSoubin ShahirFahadh Faasil and Sreenath Bhasi, along with newcomers Anna Ben and Mathew Thomas.[4][5][6] Shyju Khalid was the film’s cinematographer, and its soundtrack and score were composed by Sushin Shyam.

Set in the eponymous fishing village of Kumbalangi in KochiKerala, the film centres on the strained relationship between four brothers living together in a dysfunctional home, and how they ultimately stand up for each other as a family. Pushkaran came up with the idea for the film based on the time he spent in the village in his twenties. In 2011, he discussed the story with then-assistant director Narayanan, who decided to make his directorial debut with it. By 2016, Faasil and Pothan, both of whom had worked closely with Narayanan and Pushkaran on previous films, had agreed to co-produce the film. Narayanan then spent a year in Kumbalangi to understand its culture better, before shooting began in September 2018.

The film premiered on 24 May 2019 at the Habitat International Film Festival in Delhi, and was released in India and GCC territories on 7 February 2019.[7] It received widespread critical acclaim, and has been listed by several publications as one of the best Malayalam films of the decade. The film also achieved considerable commercial success at the box office, grossing ?39 crore worldwide,[2] against a budget of ?6.5 crore.[1]
