Actor Karthi’s action thriller ‘Kaithi’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj released yesterday for the Diwali weekend. While the film has been received well by the audience, actor Karthi met the press today to meet them and wish them for Diwali. At the meet, Karthi revealed that he will be doing ‘Kaithi 2‘ with Lokesh Kanagaraj.
He also revealed that the director called him last night and asked for only 30 days to finish the shoot of ‘Kaithi 2’. Looks like the duo will be joining hands again after Lokesh completes the shooting of Vijay’s film tentatively called ‘Thalapathy 64’.
It is known that the filming of ‘Kaithi’ was completed in 62 nights, as the film was predominantly shot in the night. The film is based on a prisoner on parole, who’s on his way to meet his daughter, who is enlisted by an injured police officer to protect a few cops. With the entire lot of gangsters in the place after them, can the prisoner save the day?
Meanwhile, Karthi is a part of Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film, Ponniyin Selvan which also stars Vikram,Aishwarya Rai, Amitabh Bachchan, Mohan Babu, Anushka Shetty and many others.

Kalakalappu 2 (pronunciation (help·info)) is a 2018 Indian Tamil language comedy film written and directed by Sundar C and produced by Kushboo. Despite the title, it is not a sequel to the 2012 film Kalakalappu, but a spiritual successor.[1] The film features Jiiva, Jai, Shiva, Nikki Galrani and Catherine Tresa in the lead roles. The film grossed ?50.35 crores in worldwide box-office.
Though talks were going on since 2012, the film began production in October 2017 and progressed in locations including Varanasi, Karaikudi, Pune and Hyderabad. The film was released on 9 February 2018.
The movie starts with Raghu (Jai) trying to kill his own father for not taking good care of his family. That is when he comes to know that he owns an ancestral property in Kasi which was given as lease almost 100 years ago. At the same time, an IT raid takes place in a minister’s house. The minister hands over the laptop having his property detail to his auditor, who demands five crores to hand over the laptop. In Kasi, Raghu’s ancestral property is taken care by Srinivas alias Seenu (Jiiva), but he was unsuccessful in the business that he is doing. It is then shown that both Seenu and Raghu had been cheated by Ganesh (Shiva). They move to Karaikudi to get hold of Ganesh and get back their money. Meanwhile, the minister starts his journey to get back the laptop. In Karaikudi, Ganesh and his two associates reveal that they want to cheat a billionaire in order to get valuable diamonds from him. Moreover, he assures to give back their money if they help him. After multiple attempts, they manage to get it overnight and plan to escape together. However, Ganesh sees Raghu with his girlfriend Aishwarya (Nikki Galrani), whom he liked very much. He intends to cheat both Raghu and Seenu for his revenge. Seenu and Raghu find out about this later and chase after him. After multiple chases, the diamonds in a tusk cover get placed in a random train in the railway station. How Raghu and Seenu get back their money and how the minister gets back the laptop forms the rest of the story.
‘Chandramukhi 2’ confirmed, Raghava Lawrence plays the lead
Raghava Lawrence took Twitter by surprise on Thursday with an announcement on his upcoming film, revealing that he will headline the cast of a sequel to Chandramukhi, the blockbuster hit starring Rajinikanth that released 15 years ago.
Tentatively titled Chandramukhi 2, the film marks the return of P Vasu in the director’s seat in Tamil films after his last release Shivalinga (2017), which, coincidentally, starred Raghava Lawrence. The choreographer-director-actor made a name for himself acting in a number of horror-comedies, notably carrying the Kanchana series of films.
Sun Pictures’ Kalanithi Maran, who backed the last two commercially successful films in the Kanchana franchise, and who Raghava Lawrence describes as his “lucky producer”, has come on board to produce Chandramukhi 2, the actor’s post on Twitter said.
Chandramukhi was produced by Sivaji Productions, and resulted in a massive change of fortunes for both the production house and Rajinikanth. Raghava Lawrence’s post suggests that the sequel is set to go on the floors with the approval of his screen idol and mentor, Rajinikanth. “I’m so lucky to act in this project with Thalaivar’s (Rajini) permission and blessings,” he says
The actor, who is also directing the Akshay Kumar-starrer Laxmmi Bomb, a remake of his Kanchana (2011), also revealed a charitable aspect to his being a part of Chandramukhi’s sequel, stating that he would donate ?3 crore from the advance fee he receives from the producer for Chandramukhi 2 towards COVID-19 relief funds.
“50 lakhs for the PM-CARES fund, 50 lakhs to CM relief fund (Tamil Nadu), 50 lakhs for FEFSI union and I want to extend my special contribution of 50 lakhs for my dancer’s union,” Raghava Lawrence says, adding that he would spend ?25 lakhs for the welfare of physically challenged children and another ?75 lakhs for daily wage earners and residents of his birthplace in Desiya Nagar, Royapuram in north Chennai. “All food essentials will be delivered with the help of police with proper safety,” he adds in his statement.

Even as superstar Rajinikanth is awaiting the release of his film ‘Darbar’ directed by AR Murugadoss, it is known that his next film is with director Siva of Siruthai fame. The film is being produced by Sun Pictures and islikely to go on floors on Thalaivar’s birthday on December 12. Meanwhile, the latest buzz doing the rounds is that he would be doing a film with director Gautham Menon afterwards.
The speculations on Rajinikanth’s 169th film being with Gautham Menon sparked off after reports that the superstar was narrated a script by Gautham Menon, and that the actor has given his nod for the same. It has been said that this movie might be produced by Vels Film International, which is also producing several movies of Gautham like Joshua and Suriya’s next.
Meanwhile, the first single from ‘Darbar’ directed by AR Murugadoss titled ‘Chumma Kizhi’ will be released on November 27th. The song penned by Vivek has been sung by the veteran SP Balasubrahmanyam.
