Producers Shaun Redick and Todd Garner announce new Amityville Horror movie which will focus on the original DeFeo murders.
In November 1974, Ronald DeFeo Jr shot all six members of his family in a killing spree that became the backstory to author Jay Anson’s 1977 bestseller The Amityville Horror. Earlier this year we saw the release of the movie called The Amityville Murders, which covered the real-life backstory of the infamous Amityville Horror and the murders that seemingly kicked off the titular “horror.” And today we have word that another film is headed our way from Get Out producer Shaun Redick and Tag producer Todd Garner which will be covering the Defeo murders. This time it’s called Amityville 1974 and The Wonderfilm Media Corporation announced today that this new movie will begin principal photography in November.
Amityville 1974 is all set to be directed by The Remaining filmmaker Casey La Scala from a screenplay he wrote which will shift the focus of its horror back to the DeFeo murders. La Scala said in a statement.
