Django / Zorro (2021)

Based on the comic book series, Django and Zorro will team up in an upcoming crossover movie.

Django Unchained is getting an all-new movie sequel, as the comic book series Django / Zorro is heading to the big screen. Acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino previously wrote a sequel to his 2012 movie Django Unchained for Dynamite Entertainment, depicting an unexpected team-up between Django and the legendary Zorro. Now, Tarantino is hoping to see the crossover story playing out in theaters, as he has tapped Jerrod Carmichael to work on a screenplay for the movie version. As of now, it’s not clear if Tarantino is co-writing with Carmichael or serving as a creative consultant. Not much other information is yet known about the project at this time.

In the comic book series, the plot is set several years after Django Unchained, serving as a sequel to the movie. It follows Django’s adventures as a bounty hunter in the West, sending his wife home cash after every job he takes on. During these travels, Django comes across Diego de la Vega, whom we all of course know best as the one and only Zorro. Fascinated by the skilled swordsman, Django strikes up a friendship with Zorro, and joins him on a mission to free slaves from their captors. It’s a crossover most people probably weren’t expecting, and yet the two gel together very well on the printed page. Hopefully, that will also translate just as well on the big screen.
