Orion Pictures is developing a new Momo Challenge movie, which joins another previously announced project based on the viral sensation.
We’ve got not one, but two different horror movies in the works based on this year’s Momo Challenge. The viral sensation swept across the internet earlier this year, in large part thanks to Kim Kardashian, who shared the now infamous image with her many millions of followers on Instagram, along with some misinformation regarding hidden Momo messages in YouTube videos that are watched by young children. Given the popularity of the creepy-faced figure, Orion Pictures is now set to adapt Momo for the big screen.
According to a new report, Orion Pictures has partnered with Roy Lee’s Vertigo Entertainment production company, as well as producer Taka Ichise, for a new, currently untitled Momo Challenge movie. Lee previously produced IT, which went on to become the highest-grossing horror movie of all time. Lee and Ichise partnered in the past on hits such as The Grudge and The Ring. Orion Pictures, meanwhile, most recently produced the Child’s Play remake. At the present time, there is no word on who will wind up in the director’s chair or just how soon production could begin.
