Marcy Kelly wrote the script, with Mattel Films Executive Vice President and Executive Producer Robbie Brenner serving as an executive producer. Mattel, Inc. VP Film Production Kevin McKeon is also overseeing the Uno movie.

This new Resident Evil film will serve as an origin story for the popular video game franchise, which takes place on a fateful night in Raccoon City in 1998. The previous six Resident Evil movies have generated a total worldwide theatrical box office of $1.2 billion.

Cube

A Japanese remake of director Vincenzo Natali’s 1997 horror film Cube, which has been kept under wraps until now, has debuted its first trailer.

“It is my great pleasure to announce that I am the executive producer of the Japanese remake of Cube with an astonishingly talented cast and director, Yasuhiko Shimizu,” Natali wrote on Twitter, sharing a link to the film’s official website, where the trailer can be viewed. According to Variety, the film was shot in October and November of last year ahead of its official announcement this month. Like Natali’s original Cube, Shimizu’s remake follows a group of strangers who are forced to figure out an escape plan after being trapped in a mysterious cube-shaped maze armed with deadly traps.

Justice Society

Directed by Jeff Wamester, Justice Society: World War II arrives on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on May 11, following the film’s digital release on April 27. The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack retails for $39.99 USD, while the standalone Blu-ray version comes in at $29.98. Star Wars

Star Wars’ Jar Jar Binks received a menacing dark side makeover, as fan art transformed the Gungan into the Sith Lord Darth Jar Jar.

As notorious as the character may be, Star Wars fans’ opinions might just change upon seeing this menacing fan-made redesign of Darth Jar Jar Binks.

Shared on Twitter by the artist, Kevin Cassidy, the redesign provides a sinister overhaul to the comic relief character. The art style provides enhancements to the texture of his skin, as the limited CGI of the original was significantly less detailed. The artist increases the scaly, reptilian appearance of the character, while simultaneously making adjustments to his anatomy. Gone are the cartoonishly large eye-stalks, as Cassidy opted to retract them into Binks’ head, making them smaller in the process.

Lord of the Rings

In The Lord of the Rings, Sauron is seen as a disembodied eye overlooking Mordor — a symbol of pure evil. But he wasn’t always this way.

The new Lord of the Rings series will cover the Second Age era of Tolkien’s saga. Much like the six movies of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, the series will almost surely feature Sauron as the main villain. But the creator of the Ring wasn’t always evil.

Going only by Peter Jackson’s original trilogy, Sauron is a rather elusive and simple character. When he is introduced at the beginning, he is called “The Dark Lord, Sauron” who “poured into this ring all his cruelty, his malice, and his will to dominate all life.” It is therefore implied that Sauron was evil from the beginning; however, that is not the case.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League

HBO Max’s upcoming four-hour cut of Zack Snyder’s Justice League has officially received an R rating from the MPAA ahead of its March release date.

The original 2017 version of Justice League, which was directed in part by Avengers director Joss Whedon, was rated PG-13 for “sequences of sci-fi violence and action,” whereas the upcoming four-hour director’s cut has been elevated to an R rating for “violence and some language.” Director Zack Snyder has previously alluded to the “language” that may have earned this adult rating. “There’s one scene where Batman drops an F-bomb,” Zack Snyder said in a December 2020 interview. “Cyborg is not too happy with what’s going on with his life before he meets the Justice League, and he tends to speak his mind. And Steppenwolf is pretty much just hacking people in half. So [the rating would be due to] violence and profanity, probably both.”

Spider-Man 3

A Daily Bugle story posted to the Spider-Man 3 Instagram provides two potential connections to Disney+’s WandaVision.

A new social media post from Sony features two potential links between the upcoming Spider-Man 3 and the Disney+ series WandaVision.

The Illuminerdi grabbed screenshots from multiple Story posts that Sony created for its Flash Thompson Instagram account. The first two feature polls detailing the fallout of Peter Parker’s identity as Spider-Man being revealed and teasing Ned Leeds becoming Hobgoblin. The final story involves a shot of The Daily Bugle‘s website, which features a story on Spider-Man’s identity reveal. But elsewhere in the image, there seem to be nods to WandaVision.
